Police arrest man suspected of threatening victim with kitchen knife

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KTSM) — Police reported a man was placed behind bars after he allegedly threatened a victim with a kitchen knife because he was texting his wife.

Tajoe Nevarez, 39, went to the victim's home on Elks Monday to confront him about the messages and pulled a large kitchen knife out of his pocket, police said.

Nevarez was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center on a $5,000 surety bond.
