EL PASO — The brother of a local con artist was arrested and booked early Wednesday morning by Sheriff's officials.

Gabriel Trejo was wanted for theft chargers after he was hired to complete a landscaping job but never completed the work.

The victim, an elderly woman, was at the center of a sibling theft case after deputies said they scammed her out of tens of thousands of dollars, jewelry and other stolen articles.

According to the report, Trejo's sister, Laura Gonzalez, 41 is still at large, with warrants for conning a woman into paying for housekeeping and later stealing items from her home.

Investigators said Gonzalez is the culprit in the disappearance of missing items in the victim's home, including jewelry, while housekeeping. She faced theft charges over $20,000 and under $100,000 in addition to several outstanding warrants. Gonzalez has a history of conning victims, based on her criminal record, including a "Princess Party" scam in 2010.

Investigators are asking for any other victims to come forward. Any information of Gonzalez' whereabouts is asked to contact the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office by calling 915-546-2280 OR submitting a tip on-line or by text.
