EL PASO, TX (KDBC) — A trail of debris and fluid led El Paso Police to the woman accused of rear ending a car early Thursday morning, seriously injuring her passenger, according to an arrest affidavit.
Desiree Skaf, 21, allegedly slammed into the back of Iris Bustamante's car, sending it into a utility pole. Bustamante's passenger, 25-year-old Janet Balderrama was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The arrest affidavit said after the crash, Skaf drove another quarter mile before it stalled out as she turned onto Montoya from Doniphan.
The affidavit said the trail led police to Skaf who was crying hysterically with her head on the deployed airbag when she was found.
Skaf is charged with two counts of accident involving personal injury or death, and one count of intoxicated assault. Balderrama was listed in critical condition.
