Pot bust yields nearly 400 lbs of marijuana

Investigators of the Source City Metro Narcotics Task Force recovered 344 bundles of wrapped marijuana, on Tuesday. The bust was made while conducting an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Officials say Timothy Santiago was operating a 2003 GMC white panel van and Antonio Diaz was the passenger in the vehicle when a marked police unit attempted to stop the pair for a stop sign violation at Larry Wadkins and Vista Del Sol.

Investigators say Santiago fled from officers and side swiped a stationary red Toyota at 1500 Lee Trevino, continued to travel south, running the red light at Gateway East and Lee Trevino where they collided with another Toyota vehicle. The van continued to travel south on Lee Trevino where the van came to rest in a cement ditch at Yermoland and Lee Trevino.

The drug had a total weight of 371 pounds. Both men were placed under arrest and charged with Possession of marijuana Over 50 lbs. - Under 2000 lbs. Santiago was also charged with Evading Arrest or Detention.
