CANUTILLO, TX — The Canutillo Independent School District will rely on public opinion to help determine the district's new superintendent. The CISD title was stripped from former superintendent Damon Murphy admist a TEA investigation into cheating allegations late last year.
Parents, students, employees and other stakeholders of CISD can complete an online survey aimed at drafting a list of characteristics that will be used in the selection process, district officials said. The survey is now online and can be accessed by logging on to the CISD website at www.canutillo-isd.org.
“This is one of the most important decisions we face as school board members and we want to make sure we have as much input as possible for all the people that make up our community,” said Board President Armando Rodriguez. “The survey is only one way to reach out to our stakeholders. We will be hosting meetings and other events to give everyone a chance to participate.”
The survey is open to the public and can be done in English or Spanish. Participants will be asked to select from among a list of characteristics they want to see in the next superintendent.
Surveys will be taken until Feb. 8.
Community meetings have also been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Feb. 5 and 6. The Feb. 5 meeting will be at Canutillo Middle School, 7311 Bosque Rd. The Feb. 6 meeting will be at Alderete Middle School, 801 Talbot Rd. These meetings are open to the public.
