EL PASO — The City of El Paso announced recent rains only caused minor delays in the construction of the downtown ballpark.
“Because of the composition of the soil at this site, water drains quickly and rain-related work stoppages are minimal,” said Alan Shubert, P.E., who is managing the construction project for the city. “After months of working on the ballpark’s foundation, crews have begun work on some of the above ground concrete elements.”
On average, more than 150 construction workers are on-site, city officials said. They report more than half are employed by local firms, and that percentage will increase as construction revs up. Eleven local firms are involved in the design of the ballpark.
