El Paso, TX (KDBC) — A jury found him guilty, but a 24 year-old El Paso man charged with murder actually caught a break in court today. Luis Ramos was convicted of the lesser charge of aggravated assault. Ramos stabbed 18 year-old Angel Garcia in the neck in November of 2009 during a fight at a house party in Northeast El Paso. Garcia later died at the hospital.
Ramos' attorney argued that his client was merely trying to protect his wife and two children. The sentencing phase of Ramos trial began today and will resume tomorrow morning.
