Santa Fe, NM (KDBC) — Doña Ana isn't the only county in New Mexico issuing same-sex marriage licenses, on Friday the Santa Fe county clerk announced they too are joining in.
Santa Fe County Clerk, Geraldine Salazar, hasn't been shy about her support behind same-sex couples tying the knot.
As Local 4 News first reported Wednesday, Doña Ana County Clerk, Lynn Ellins, began issuing licenses to same sex couples and Friday Santa Fe followed suit.
The decision comes after the Santa Fe city attorney general discovered New Mexico's constitution had a genderless language when it comes to marriage.
Although Attorney General Gary King doesn't agree, he says he won't interfere with the actions taken by Doña Ana and Santa Fe County.
