School Security bill proposed at Texas House

Three Texas lawmakers pitched a plan at the State House Tuesday that would create a new funding source for school security.

If passed by the legislature, the Texas Schools Security Act would allow towns to create a local property tax or sales tax to pay for security measures.

The plan would have to be approved by voters, and it would have be renewed every five years.

The act is being touted as a way to provide more school security without interfering with second amendment rights.
