Tuesday, January 1, 2013 - 11:59pm

Several families in the borderland are celebrating the New Year in hospital filled with love and joy as they welcome new lives into the world.

"I thought it was going to be a little bit before or a lot ways after but never like at 12 or that close to 12,” said mother Kimberly Castillo.

It's a new start for the Castillo family on the first day of 2013.

Dominic Jairo Castillo was born at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces just ten minutes into the New Year.

Weighing in at six pounds and 15 ounces, Dominic is the third child for Kimberly and Javier Castillo.

"It's special… like the first and second sons that we had…very very special… very very blessed to have him here and this healthy," said father Javier Castillo.

Nine minutes earlier, Yasmin Alejandra was the first baby born in Juarez at the Familia Hospital.

Her parents, Marleth Zavala and Edgar Vargas are proud parents.

And in El Paso, Joseph Anthony was one of the first special deliveries of 2013.

"It feels really cool. I didn't know until they told me a while ago," said mother Sylvia Alvidrez.

Joseph was born at 9:55 a.m. at Del Sol Medical Center.

Mom Sylvia said every New Year will be extra special.

"Double party," said Alvidrez.
