A little part of El Paso will be in this year's rose parade.

Sierra providence's Eric Evans wrote dedications for two rose vials that will adorn the donate life float in the parade. The event is seen by 40 million viewers on New Year’s Day.

It’s to showcase how hospitals have contributed to saving and improving lives by performing transplants. Marla Sanchez said she suffered from keratoconus. A disease that attacked her right eye's cornea. Without the help of donors she might not have ever seen again.

“As I went through my vision loss, it went so quickly, that you forget. You forget. So just the detail, the detail I was lacking to see. So it was very amazing,” Marla Sanchez, a cornea transplant recipient told us.
Sanchez underwent two of her three transplants here in El Paso.

An organ donor can save up to eight lives.

An organ, eye and tissue donor can save up to 50 lives.

To register as a donor you can sign up when you renew your driver's license or go to donatelifetexas.org
