The Silver Fire burning in New Mexico now spans more than 30,000 acres and high winds are not helping the situation.

The small town of Kingston, New Mexico remains evacuated, but firefighters have been able to protect homes in the area.

It’s predicted the fire could grow towards the east and up to 6,000 acres Wednesday.

The fire was sparked nearly two weeks ago by lightning.
