Balmorhea, TX (KDBC) — This is the busiest weekend of the year for most Texas State Parks. Many in the Borderland make an annual pilgrimage this time of year to Balmorhea State Park. This oasis in the desert is home to the largest spring fed swimming pool in the world. Upwards of 1500 people will visit the park every day through Sunday, and park officials are urging visitors to plan ahead to make sure they get in.
"To just go swimming for the day I would recommend they come to the park as early as possible because once we fill up on our spaces we close the gate and only let people come in when parking spaces are available," said Jacob Barton, the park's superintendent.
