SOCORRO, TX (KDBC) — The trials for two former Socorro police officers began Monday.
Israel Delgado and Javier Varela allegedly lied about an incident in May 2012 that may have led to an unlawful arrest of a motorcyclist, according to a Texas Ranger's affidavit.
They're charged with tampering with government records, aggravated perjury, on top of official oppression.
Their supervisor at the time Jose Alvarez faced similar charges last week, but was cleared when the judge determined neither side had enough evidence to move the case forward.
