Tropical Storm Chantal is taking aim on the Islands of Hispanola and hurricane hunters are on their way to collect data.  The storm strengthened Tuesday to 65 miles per hour and it's expected to be very near the Dominican Republic today (Wednesday.)

As a result, the entire country is under a tropical storm warning, with the southeastern part of the country under a hurricane watch.

A tropical storm warning has also been issued for Puerto Rico and Haiti where as much as half a foot of rain could fall. Meanwhile, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the central Bahamas are under a tropical storm watch.

Chantal's track is still uncertain, so residents along the southeastern U.S. should continue to monitor this storm.
