Two construction workers, suspected drunk driver identified by EPPD

El Paso Police released the names of the two construction workers who were killed on I-10 early Sunday morning, along with the name of the 18-year-old Fort Bliss soldier who has been charged with two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter.

EPPD say that Jan Michael Nieves, 18, of Fort Bliss was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic eastbound on I-10 when he disregarded the barricades set up to control traffic during the I-10 shutdown and struck two construction workers.

The construction workers have been identified as Jimmy Joe Broadstreet, 54 of Chaparral, NM. Broadstreet's family say that Broadstreet was taken to an area hospital after the crash where he later died.

The other construction worker who was pronounced dead at the scene has been identified as James Earl Green, 39, of Runaway Bay, Texas.

Nieves was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter. His bond was set at $200,000.

EPPD says that the investigation is ongoing, and no other information will be released at this time.
