El Paso Police are asking the public's assistance locating two people they say tried to rob Macy's department store at Sunland Park mall on November 5th.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:25 p.m. last Tuesday afternoon when a man and a woman entered the Macy's store and the man pointed out several purses and walked out of the store. The woman then proceeded to grab nine purses from various displays and walked out of Macy's.

A loss prevention employee from Macy's attempted to stop the woman, and a struggle took place. The employee received minor injuries in the struggle. The woman then dropped the purses in the parking lot and fled in a gold Mercury Cougar.

The woman in the case is described as a 40 to 45 year old Hispanic female, heavy set, with light brown hair down to her mid-back and medium brown skin tone. She was dressed in a red jacket, red shirt, and dark exercise pants with white designs on the back pockets.

The man involved is described as an 18 to 20 year old Hispanic male, thin, and was dressed wearing a black hoodie, dark jeans, and a black baseball cap.

EPPD is asking anyone with any information on this case to call Crime Stoppers of El Paso immediately at 566-8477(TIPS), on-line at or you can send a text message by entering the key word “CRIME1” (no space and include the quotation marks) plus your tip information, and text it to CRIMES (274637).
