UPDATE: All lanes along I-10 west were reopened about 5:30 p.m. Friday and the backup cleared shortly after.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Westbound traffic on both lanes of I-10, just past the Mesa Street exit, is at a standstill due to two jackknifed semi-tractor trailers.

The wreck happened just before 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, right as a thunderstorm passed over West El Paso. According to emergency dispatch, there no injuries as a result of the two truck wreck.

EPPD units have been dispatched to divert traffic at the Sunland Park exit, however traffic west of that location is being rerouted off the freeway at the Mesa Exit. According to emergency scanner traffic, several vehicles will have to back up several yards in order to exit the freeway.

Motorists are asked to avoid I-10 before getting to the Sunland Park exit, as all lanes are at a standstill. Motorists can use Mesa or Paisano/Doniphan to continue their westbound travel.
