United States Senator Tom Udall released a report on managing water during drought conditions Tuesday.

The report listed 40 proposed actions that were put together by a group of about 500 farmers, engineers and policy makers during the New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute’s 57th annual New Mexico Water Conference.

Some of the suggestions include improving research, helping municipalities fund new infrastructure and developing long-term plans for water conservation.

The report says funding to federal programs in those areas is key to managing water in drought conditions.

Udall said it will take a collaborative effort to find solutions and he will work at the federal level to apply the proposed actions.
