El Paso, TX (KDBC) — A teenager is in the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car driven by another teenager driver.
A normal day after school turns dangerous and tragic for a couple of teenagers.
"The car sped up and turned and ran over Brandon," said Ingrid DeLeon, one of several teenagers who witnessed the crash.
El Paso Police say a 14 year- old boy was driving a Jeep southbound on Oxcart Run with other teenagers in the car and had the right of way. Police say another 14 year-old purposefully put himself in harms way and was run over.
"The red car over there, they were speeding up and Brandon just ran into the middle of the street," said DeLeon.
Another teenager described what he saw.
"And I just see something go up in the air and I thought it was like someone's backpack. But then the driver gets out of the car and he said 'oh I hit Brandon', said Jesus Dominguez, a witness to the accident.
DeLeon jumped into action.
"We ran up to him and called 911," said DeLeon.
Dominguez recalled the gruesome details.
"He was like bleeding from his head and from his mouth too. He looked pale and purple," said Dominguez.
Officer Javier Sambrano with the El Paso Police said there are a lot of unanswered questions.
"It does appear that it may have been an incident of horsing around on part of the pedestrian. But you know its still too early on in the investigation," said Sambrano.
Needless to say, the school kids learned another lesson.
"You don't run into the street, cus he ran into the street," said Dominguez.
The 14 year-old pedestrian suffered severe head injuries and is in the hospital.
Sambrano was not able to comment on why the 14 year-old was driving and if there were adults present. It's unknown if the teen driver will face any charges.
