Major shareholders with U.S. Airways are meeting today (Friday) in New York to vote on a merger with American Airlines.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports shareholders must approve the proposal to complete the 11-billion-dollar merger.
U.S. Justice Department officials must also give a thumbs-up. The new combined airline would be known as American Airlines, and it would be based in Fort Worth, Texas but the Star-Telegram reports 19 State Attorneys General have joined an anti-trust review, expressing concerns the merger will mean fewer flights and less service for travelers.
