El Paso, TX (KDBC) — April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and UTEP is partnering with several local agencies to host their annual Take Back the Night event.
The event is focused on eliminating all types of sexual violence and will include a candlelight vigil. The movement has been in place for 30 years now, similar events will take place at thousands of colleges, universities and rape crisis centers across the country.
Wednesday's event at UTEP is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. inside the Union Cinema on the UTEP campus. The doors will open starting at 6 p.m. and the vigil is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.
