Chicago (CNN) — April showers are pounding Chicago.
Thursday was the rainiest April day ever recorded at O'Hare International Airport.
The U.S. geological survey says the Chicago River has crested at a record 8 1/2 a-half feet.
That's causing massive flooding.
Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has issued a state of emergency.
The wet weather washed out travel plans for many in the city, which is home to one of the busiest airports in the country.
More than 600 flights were canceled Thursday.
