Juan Blanco proved that he is a Division I talent at the State track and field meet and UTEP rewarded him with a scholarship. The distance runner posted a time of 4:11 in the 1600m this season, second fastest time in El Paso history and now caps off his impressive year with a collegiate scholarship.
"It's awesome when you get to do what you love and you don't have to pay for it. So it's a win win for me. It couldn't get any better than this," said Blanco.
Juan plans to major in biology.
