Matt sat out the 2010 season due to Conference USA transfer rules, but is excited to work with UTEP coach Mika Laaksonen, along with his father, who had qualified for the Olympics in the Discus.
"Houston wasn't a good fit for me, so I decided to come back, kick it off at UTEP, and have my dad as the coach, along with Mika in the mix. That was a decision that was for myself, and my best interests. This is my hometown, this is where I like to be, I have my coach, my dad, and together, I think they give me an extra edge on everything, and it's always good to be home."
UTEP starts school on August 22nd, and Track and Field practice begins September 15.
