UTEP fans are invited to celebrate the start of another football season by attending the Miners’ annual Kick-Off Luncheon on Friday, Aug. 19 at 11:30 a.m. in the downtown Convention Center.
The Kick-Off Luncheon is organized by the Touchdown Club, the fund-raising arm of UTEP Football.
Coach Mike Price will be on hand to preview the 2011 campaign, and UTEP players will also be in attendance. Fans are encouraged to wear orange.
Individual tickets are $35, and tables of eight (plus two players) are also available for $325. Sponsorships are also available.

UTEP's annual "Fan Appreciation Day" will be held on Saturday (Aug. 20) at 10 a.m. in the concourse of Sun Bowl Stadium.
Admission is free. Fans can meet coach Mike Price and the 2011 Miner players, take pictures and get autographs. Complimentary posters and schedule cards will also be given away at the event.
Orange Fever Fiesta Student-Athlete Scholarship Fundraiser will be held Aug. 29 at Grace Gardens.
A member of the College Football Hall of Fame, guest speaker Archie Manning enjoyed a 14-year NFL career. After retiring, he has worked as an NFL radio and television analyst. He is the father of current NFL quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning.
The pre-event VIP sponsor reception, featuring a “meet and greet” with Manning, begins at 5 p.m. The event and dinner, catered by Grace Gardens, will start at 6:30 p.m.
A live and silent auction will be held during dinner to raise funds for student-athlete scholarships.
VIP reception sponsorship packages are available for $2,000, $3,000 and $5,000. Event and dinner tickets are $100, and a reserved table for 10 is $1,000. Non-attendees are welcome to make donations.

Local businesses can show their support for UTEP football while scoring two tickets to the season opener and a schedule poster autographed by coach Price by participating in our new Miner Marquee Mania program.
Businesses simply need to put “Go Miners” or “Go UTEP” and “Beat Stony Brook” on their marquees the week of Aug. 29. Then e-mail a picture of the marquee, along with their address, to Myndi Luevano in UTEP marketing at firstname.lastname@example.org  no later than 5 p.m. Aug. 29. The message must remain on the marquee through Sept. 3. The tickets and schedule poster will be delivered to the business in time for the game.
Keep in mind that our soccer and volleyball teams will open their seasons before football. The soccer squad will face I-10 rival New Mexico State at University Field at 7 p.m. Friday. There’s a pre-game tailgate from 5-7 p.m., and fans can receive free admission to the game by attending.
The first serve for the Miners’ volleyball campaign is Aug. 26, when they host the El Paso Sports Commission Invitational at Memorial Gym. UTEP will host Southern at 10 a.m. and Portland State at 7:30 p.m. On Aug. 27, UTEP faces Nicholls State at 2 p.m. and UT Arlington at 7:30 p.m.
