Junior Risper Kimaiyo and Elkana Rotich earned the league’s honors after taking first at the NM State Kachina Classic on Sept. 17.
Kimaiyo claimed her third-consecutive meet title posting a season-best time of 16:59 in the 5K race. This marks the third straight victory this season for the All-American. This is Kimaiyo’s third-consecutive Athlete of the Week honor for the season and 10th of her career.
Rotich won the men’s race with a time of 25:21 in the 8K race at the NMSU Golf Course. This is the Kenyan natives second honor of the season and his fourth career Athlete of the Week honor.
The sweep of the awards is the third for the Miners this season. Kimaiyo and Justice Chirchir were tabbed with the honor on Sept. 13.
The men’s and women’s cross country team will return to action on Friday, Sept. 30 at the Notre Dame Adidas Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
