The UTEP tennis team capped off the UNM Invitational and its fall season capturing four singles victories on Sunday at the Linda Estes Tennis Center in Albuquerque.
Marie LeBlond outlasted South Carolina’s Adriana Pereira, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, to take third in the Tourquoise Singles bracket.
Rebeca Calvillo and Martina Trierweiler each won their respective consolation finals match of the Cherry Singles. Calvillo powered past UNM’s Maria Sablina, 7-5, 6-4 and Trierweiler defeated Texas Tech’s Sofya Malysheva in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.
Dariya Abdrakhamanova won the consolation final of the Black Singles bracket after taking down Northern Arizona’s Jordan Denesick in straight sets, 6-2-, 6-2.
Anastasiya Sylenko was tripped up by UNM’s Sarah Kahn (6-1, 6-2) and Gabi Vazquez fell to South Carolina’s Josefin Andersson (6-3, 7-5).
The Miners open their spring season on January 26 at San Jose State.
