The Sun Bowl Association and the Rotary Club of El Paso are proud to announce Dallas Cowboys legend Jay Novacek as the speaker at the 2012 Rotary Club Sun Bowl Team Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 28, at 11:30 a.m. at the El Paso Convention & Performing Arts Center.
“We are very excited to bring Jay Novacek to this year’s team luncheon,” said Bernie Olivas, Sun Bowl Association Executive Director. “More than a Sun Bowl event, the proceeds of this luncheon supports the children in our community. We are honored to partner with the Rotary Club of El Paso to put together this event for our teams and our community.”
Novacek, a three-time Super Bowl champion, is considered one of the most prolific pass catching tight ends in Dallas Cowboys history. Drafted by the St. Louis in 1985, he played five seasons for the Cardinals before signing with the Cowboys in 1991. A five-time NFL Pro Bowl selection, Novacek was the top tight end in the league from 1990 to 1995 catching an NFL-high 339 passes.
The annual team luncheon is sponsored by the Rotary Club of El Paso. All proceeds of the event primarily support the organization’s Children’s Christmas Party, which treats over 4,000 head start children in the El Paso area. The event also supports the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and Youth Appreciation Day scholarships.
