EL PASO — Tuesday was proclaimed as Stampede Newspaper Day by City Council.
The staff at Burges High School won the National Pacemaker Award for outstanding news coverage. The Pacemaker Award is the highest national honor in student journalism. Council awarded the staff the Estrella Award to give the students recognition for their hard work and dedication.
"Our advisor Ms. Monroe has always pushed us to the level to win that award so when it finally go announced that we won the Pacemaker I was more happy for her for her dedication to the program than I was for just me myself," said Elijah Natividad, Stampede Newspaper Editor.
