With three players in double figures, the New Mexico State men's basketball team beat Texas State, 78-67. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings led the Aggies (8-8, 2-2 WAC) with 22 points.
Freshman center Sim Bhullar posted his second 20-point game of his career on a 9-for-9 shooting performance. Senior forward Bandja Sy recorded his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
With the win over the Bobcats (4-12, 0-4), the Aggies improved to 7-1 inside the Pan American Center. For the second straight game, NM State used a quick start to the second half to take control of the game. The Aggies opened the half with a 12-2 run and didn't trail in the period.
NM State shot 53.7 percent from the field (29-for-54) for the game and was 88.2 percent from the free-throw line (15-of-17).
The Aggies and Bobcats were tied at 37-37 at halftime. Sy led the team with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting with seven rebounds. Bhullar scored nine points, while sophomore guard Terrel de Rouen added a pair of 3-pointers off the bench for six points.
In the first half, the Aggies shot the ball well. The Crimson and White went 48 percent from the field (12-of-25) and 41.7 percent from the 3-point line (5-of-12).
The Aggies return to the road with two games in the northwest at Seattle, Thursday, Jan. 10 and Idaho, Saturday, Jan. 12.
