An NMSU Men's basketball player is out of an Alamogordo jail today, released on bond after turning himself in, in relation to a vehicular manslaughter charge stemming from an accident over a year ago.
Coleman, 19, was arrested after a year-long investigation revealed he was allegedly texting and driving when his Dodge pickup truck struck a Chevrolet Caliber pulling out of a K-Mart parking lot, killing 85 year-old Clarence G. Boulanger of Alamogordo.
Alamogordo Police tell Newschannel 9 the incident happen on January 5, 2012 at the intersection of White Sands Bvld. and Glacier Drive. They say Coleman was aware of the year-long investigation and cooperated with police throughout the process.
The NMSU athletics department released this statement: "The New Mexico State athletics department is gathering information about an incident involving redshirt freshman Emery Coleman, of the men’s basketball, and athletic department official have no further commit at this time until all information has been collected."
