Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was indicted Friday by a federal grand jury.
Nagin was charged with 21 counts of bribery, conspiracy to deprive citizens of honest services, money laundering, wire fraud and filing false tax returns. The federal indictment accuses Nagin of accepting more than $160,000 in bribes and gratuities from contractors while the city recovered from Hurricane Katrina.
Two business men have pleaded guilty to paying bribes to the 56-year old former mayor. Both are expected to testify if Nagin's case goes to trial.
