EL PASO — UTEP marked this President's holiday weekend by dedicating a new flagpole on campus.
The ceremony held today was the latest step in UTEP's 100 year celebration, part of a campus wide transformation project. Before the new flag can go up it's shiny new 60 foot pole, the old flag needed to be taken down from the old flagpole. Itis next to the Geology building and was erected in 1947. Today, members of the UTEP R.O.T.C. retired those flags. The new flag pole is just outside the Psychology building, still in the center of campus.
On top of the old flag pole is an eagle. It will be taken down and used in a future project, no word on what the exact plans are. These transformations are to create a more pedestrian friendly environment on campus.
