Project BRAVO has announced the program currently has $3.4 million in funding for its utility assistance program.
Project BRAVO is currently accepting appointments and distributing applications for El Paso area residents that need assistance with their electric, gas and propane bills. The program does not assist with water bills.
The program can also assist in the repairing of heating and cooling units. Malfunctioning furnaces can be repaired and non-refrigerated air units may be repaired or replaced if the units meet specific criteria.
The program offers assistance to participants for payments for six to eight months of utilities.
Project BRAVO will give priority to those 60 and older, disabled and have children five and younger in the household.
Participants will also receive education on energy saving tips.
Interested individuals must submit a complete application to Project BRAVO with all required documents in order to receive an appointment. No walk-ins will be accepted.
Clients must be income eligible and provide proof of residency, income documentation, current energy bills, and copies of other documents with their application.
In order to be considered income eligible, all household income earned by adults must not exceed 125% of the 2013 Federal Poverty Guidelines which is $14,362.50 for a one person, $19,387.50 for two people, etc. Assistance will be provided as long as funding is available.
