EL PASO, Texas — Three of these cases of hit and run drivers crashing into houses and leaving the scene. The most recent instance was just this morning.
A driver is leaving Irvin High School, misses the turn and crashes into a house in the 9500 block of Raleigh in Northeast El Paso. The driver left his truck at the scene.
Just last Friday, there was a similar story in East El Paso. At the beginning of February, the same thing happened in Far East El Paso.
El Paso Police Public Information Officer Mike Baranyay told us he doesn't think this is becoming a pattern. He said these kinds of accidents are a small percentage of the total number of hit and run accidents.
Baranyay also told us that there are a number of reasons people could leave their vehicle, other than being drunk. He said sometimes it's a stolen or borrowed vehicle or sometimes people are just scared.
