EL PASO — A gunman tried to rob two Eastside hotels within minutes of each other and El Paso police want him caught.
On January 17 at about 3:40 a.m., the man walked into La Quinta Inn on Gateway West and Lomaland wearing a ski mask and asking about a room. Instead, he demanded money from an employee and ran off with some cash.
About 20 minutes later, he tried to do it again at La Quinta Inn on Gateway East and Yarbrough.
"Right as he had done that, a security guard that had been doing his rounds there at the motel was going into the lobby area. The suspect sees the security guard approaching, panics and flees the scene without taking any of the money," said Javier Sambrano with the El Paso police Department.”
The robber was wearing a gray hooded sweater, light blue jeans, white sneakers and gloves.
