The New Mexico State Aggies had their dance cut short Thursday falling to 4-seed Saint Louis, 64-44, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in San Jose, CA. NMSU was led by Senior forward Bandja Sy who had 17 points and 9 rebounds in his final game in the Crimson and White.
The 13-seeded Aggies (24-11) struggled shooting posting a 28% to 46% for the Billikens (28-6) who also forced 16 turnovers. NMSU trailed 29-16 at halftime but cut the lead to 6 following an 8-0 run in the second half. But from there Saint Louis pulled away led by Junior forward Dwayne Davis who had 24 points.
New Mexico St. closes out their year winning 18 of their last 20 games, including the Western Athletic Conference tournament title for the second straight season.
