EL PASO — A new type of ethanol gas being sold could have harmful effects on vehicles.
It's called E15 and according to AAA, only five percent of vehicles on the road are approved to use the new gas.
In a hearing before Congress, five manufacturers said their warranties would not cover fuel-related claims caused by E15.
Eight other manufacturers said that E15 does not comply with fuel requirements in owners' manuals and may void warranty coverage.
The American Petroleum institute is warning consumers to check their manuals.
