EL PASO — Sequestration may be slamming several federal agencies, but cuts at the border are not going to be as bad as expected. Customs and Border Protection announced today that it is postponing furloughs for border patrol agents. Overtime for some agents will also still be allowed. CBP is crediting passage of the 2013 Appropriations bill for mitigating the impacts of sequestration. The agency has not said how long it will postpone furloughs and other cuts.
