LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Work on the $500,000 solar panel project is already underway at Las Cruces City Hall.
The city is building two carports with solar panels on the top floor of the parking garage on the east side of city hall.
Once completed the panels will produce electricity to supply the main building and reduce the cost of utilities.
Parking at the garage is limited while construction is underway but the city has set up alternate parking locations surrounding city hall.
The project is expected to be completed by June.
