Today (Friday) is World No Tobacco Day. So it's the perfect time to talk about anti-smoking messages. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is out with news that anti-smoking campaigns actually work.
From billboards to television and radio ads or messages in newspapers and magazines, a study found that anti-smoking ads really did help convince people to quit. The findings come from the Global Adult Tobacco Survey which studied 17 countries. Out of the 17 countries studied, 14 showed significantly increased odds of people beating the habit.
Researchers examined people ages 15 and older and more than 265-thousand people participated in the three-year study. This program examined countries outside the U.S. including places in Asia and South America.
