NEW YORK (CNN) — FBI agents arrested a new york man they say tried to extort 250,000 dollars from Paula Deen.
62-year-old, Thomas Paculis is accused of e-mailing and calling Deen's lawyer, demanding money in exchange for keeping quiet about what he called "true and damning" statements Deen made.
Paculis said the statements would bring financial ruin to Deen if released.
The FBI says the man used to live in georgia, but he now lives near Ithaca in New York.
The federal charge was filed on June 24th, several days after deen released a video on YouTube, apologizing for using the n-word.
