El Paso — The National Weather Service in Santa Teresa has issued a flash flood watch for portions of New Mexico and Texas to include Doña Ana County and El Paso County.
The watch is in effect from 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.
NWS says an upper level low pressure system will move through Central New Mexico Wednesday while moist unstable air flows into the region. This weather pattern will bring showers and thunderstorms with areas of heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts will exceed two inches over a few locations resulting in flash flooding.
They add, a flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. NWS encourages residents to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
Local 4 News Chief Meteorologist Robert Bettes will have your latest forecast tonight at 5:30 and 10 p.m.
