Las Cruces, New Mexico — As major construction continues at Las Cruces High School, Principal Jed Hendee is asking parents to use the designated drop-off and pick-up area across El Paseo Road from the school (on its east side) rather than dropping off and picking up students in the student parking lot on the north side of the school, near the cafeteria. The designated parking area is located at the intersection of El Paseo Road and Lee Whisman Street, just north of the First Christian Church. The parking area is paved and fenced.
Students being dropped off and picked up in the student parking lot has caused a lot of congestion in that parking lot during the first few days of school, said Hendee. To avoid that, he is requesting that parents and other relatives or friends who are dropping off or picking up students use the area across El Paseo Road that has been designated for that purpose. A crossing guard is on duty before school, during lunch and after school to make sure students get safely across the street, said Hendee.
"We are very grateful for the understanding and cooperation of our entire community as we continue with this major construction project that will make Las Cruces High School a state-of-the-art facility for our students," said Hendee.
The first phase of the $82 million project will continue for the next two years.
