EL PASO — Police revealed the name of the 18-year-old shot to death in West El Paso as Saeed Nami. He attended both Franklin High school and El Paso Academy West, a charter school. He was set to attend UTEP in the Fall.
As NewsChannel 9 reported, Nami was shot and killed just after 7 p.m. night at Palo Verde park in West El Paso.
Neighbors in the area reported hearing multiple gun shots. News crew cameras were rolling as a family of four ran towards the park crying right after the shooting happened.
El Paso police believe the victim was not shot randomly. One neighbor who did not want us to show his face said he saw a suspicous vehicle drive by as the shots rang out.
"We actually did see a white truck creeping by, it was a white truck," the witness said. "We don't know if that truck was involved in that incident, but it was really suspicious to us."
Police are asking anyone with information on the alleged gunmen to call them immediately or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 566-TIPS.
