El Paso, TX (KDBC) — Parents now have a way to stay in contact with babies who have to stay in the neonatal intensive care unit. The El Paso Children's Hospital just unveiled their NICview webcam system. The system allows new mothers to watch their babies via webcam.
Parents can even share the tender moments with family members outside of the borderland. All a family member or friend has to do is open up the website on their computer or smart phone. The new system has helped ease new parents worries.
"A lot more relaxed cause I could see that she was still OK and that there wasn't anything going on at that time because she was intubated when she was first born so it was really, it was a hard experience not being able to be with her 24/7. So having the cameras were, I could look at her when I needed to was really a good experience,” Stephanie McKenzie, a new mother said.
The NicView WebCam System was made possible through the UMCFoundation and donations made at the Milagro Gala.
