El Paso, TX (KDBC) — El Paso Electric Company and El Paso Water Utilities host annual "Respect the Water Luncheon" at the Wyndham Hotel, Wednesday.
The event is organized by the Drowning Prevention Coalition and featured key note speaker, Nancy Baker.
Baker, lost her seven year old daughter Virginia Graeme Baker due to a hot tub drain incident in 2002.
Baker actively lobbied Congress to win support for a law to require anti-entrapment drain covers and other safety devices, as needed in the entire country.
The Drowning Prevention Coalition was formed in March, 2010 through the efforts of Laura and Eddie Castle, parents of Christian Castle who passed away through a drowning 5 years ago.
Community partners, like our sister-station NewsChannel 9, were also recognized at today's event.
