Pope Francis announced Monday, that the canonization of Pope John Paul the Second and Pope John the 23rd will be held next spring.
The faithful will descend on the Vatican for the event on April 27, 2014. To be named a saint involves a series of steps, including leading a holy life and performing at least two church-verified miracles.
John Paul the Second's sainthood comes more quickly than most other saints. Catholics worldwide called for the beloved Pope's speedy canonization immediately after his death in 2005.
