Las Cruces, NM — Two Albuquerque men are arrested early Sunday morning after an alleged post-wedding brawl in Las Cruces.
36-year-old Mario A. Saiz and 41-year-old Paul Calderon, were both arrested and charged with one count each of aggravated assault on a peace officer; and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
LCPD officials add that Saiz was also charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and attempting to disarm a police.
According to officials the incident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Officers were sent to the Hotel Encanto at 705 S. Telshor, where a fight between seven to eight men inside the Azul Nightclub broke out.
When officers arrived, they learned that a brawl erupted in the club following a wedding reception and hotel security was unable to control the large gathering.
According to LCPD, their officers were told that, as Saiz exited the club, he allegedly punched a woman in the face causing her to fall to the ground where she lay unconscious until after paramedics arrived.
